Flat Fee Rate

A flat fee rate is where you agree to pay a fixed amount to represent you in a legal matter. As all legal matters are different and require differing amount of time, it is best to call us for your free 30 minutes consultation so that we may hear your legal issues and give you a quote.

Hourly Rate

An hourly rate is where you pay for the time spent on your legal matter. This includes telephone conversations and email correspondence with you or the other party in your legal matter. This also includes drafting any letters, memos, or documents which will consist of time spent on researching your case or preparing for an appearance.

Contingency Fees

A contingency fee is a percentage of what is awarded or agreed upon in a settlement. The contingency fee is calculated based on the amount of time that needs to be spent, the complexity of the case, and does it stand a reasonable chance of success. It is also dependent on how much risk is required to take this case to the end.

Retainers and Disbursements

In addition to legal fees, there are other fees as well. A retainer fee is taken at the start of your case to cover some of the work that is required to begin your legal matter. Part of that retainer fee also covers disbursement costs. Disbursement fees are fees we incur on your behalf such as court filing fees, processing fees, photocopies, etc...

Harmonized Sales Tax

All legal fees and some disbursements are subject to the 13% HST.
